About
What does Chakra 5 mean?
In yogic science, the 5th Chakra is an energy center located around the throat. The qualities associated with it are: self-expression, voice, vitality, community. Connecting to the spirit of Chakra 5 means finding your true voice and tapping into your innate vitality.
Who started this and why?
McKenna Rowe started mobile or “pop up” yoga classes to make it more comfortable, convenient and affordable for people to practice yoga under the guidance of an experienced instructor. Many people never pursue or continue a yoga practice because they’re struggling financially, managing extra weight or injuries that limit mobility, are intimidated by crowded studios, or have crazy schedules. Chakra 5′s mobile classes can be conducted at home by yourself or with a group of friends or at the office with co-workers. We even have classes in public spaces like parks, community rec rooms at apartment complexes…you name it. We bring the yoga to you!
Chakra 5 yoga classes are fun, sensible and encouraging. We respect deeply all levels of students and all body types. Many of us have been in classes in which we didn’t feel welcome or were pushed too hard too soon to do dangerous moves. Chakra 5′s #1 priority is to make sure you have fun, feel challenged, and do it all safely!
McKenna Rowe, FounderMcKenna caught the yoga bug as a little girl watching Lilias Folan on PBS. She has led an active life running, hiking, biking, snowboarding and once was a nationally ranked equestrian. After years of working in digital marketing for clients such as Disney and NBC, she took a sabbatical to acquire yoga-teaching certification. A desire to help people heal soon followed. A successful composer, singer and DJ, McKenna likes to share cool and cutting-edge music during her yoga classes, recruiting local musicians and DJs to perform with her. She owned and operated East Hollywood’s Chakra 5 Yoga studio throughout 2011, creating a community of over 600 clients, but decided to close the studio and return to the mobile yoga business model. She was certified in Hatha/Kundalini Yoga in 2009 under Kelly Wood at Karuna Yoga, with additional teacher training in Experiential Anatomy under Judith Lasater at the Santa Barbara Yoga Center. |

Types of Classes:
- Yoga Basics: A good orientation class to get a solid understanding of the basic fundamentals of yoga. We’ll guide you through some breath and meditation techniques, and a series of beginning seated and standing poses. Extra special attention is given to students to make sure they are in safe and correct alignment. Recommended for beginners.
- Focus & Flow™: Skip that Starbucks and get revved up with a yoga class practiced at a more vigorous pace. We incorporate more movement, strength poses and core work into this class for those seeking a bit more of a “workout”. Recommended for advanced beginners/intermediates who are more familiar with yoga.
- Power Down: We guide you through a series of gentle, flowing poses and stretches coupled with meditation and breathing to help you loosen up and wind down from a stressful day. Recommended for all body types, all levels.
